After receiving results, parents or legal guardians may contact the Gifted Education Department for further explanation of test results. Letters are mailed within 30 school days of determining the test results. Parents or legal guardians are informed of gifted test results and placement. Forįurther information, contact the Gifted Education office at (480) 730-7306. Parents/guardians will be notified of the test schedule closer to the date of testing. Want their child to participate in the gifted test, they will have the opportunity to opt-out. Universal gifted testing is called the Cognitive Abilities Test. The state boardĪpproved test that was selected by the Arizona Department of Education for this Opportunity to test between October-December at their school. A fast way to identify many gifted and academically talented children is to look at their achievement tests on standardized testing. If the parent or legal guardian does not want the child tested for gifted identification, permission to test can be withheld. Parents or legal guardians provide permission to evaluate and release scores. The classroom teacher completes a Behavioral Rating Scale for Identifying and Evaluating Gifted Students and submits it with the referral. Students are typically identified for gifted testing by their classroom teacher, but referrals can come from any source including parents, students, or other staff.
